This is in response to the questions & confusion that many of the residents of Mill Creek nd Huttonsville have regarding the rumors of a huge pipeline through
your community.
Dominion’s official map of Randolph County shows the 14.5 deep trench planned
in a 200'+ right of way easement. The map is intentionally useless as it is an aerial view at full Fall foliage thus one can not locate roads, streams, rivers or landmarks.
The 2X3 maps have been enhanced with details and also, a work in progress:
Details of Huttonsville, WV proposed 42" transmission methaneline route:
- crosses Rt 250 south of Cardinal House parallel to Huttonsville Correction Center,
- crosses the Tygart Valley River, 300 feet from the Brick Church Cemetery
- crosses Ward Flat Rd with dozens of homes to the immediate west
- heads south crossing Becky Creek Rd north of Valley Vista Lane
- route parallels Becky Creek, crosses Dry Run, and Big Branch heading east
- crosses Rt 250 south of Cardinal House parallel to Huttonsville Correction Center,
- crosses the Tygart Valley River, 300 feet from the Brick Church Cemetery
- crosses Ward Flat Rd with dozens of homes to the immediate west
- heads south crossing Becky Creek Rd north of Valley Vista Lane
- route parallels Becky Creek, crosses Dry Run, and Big Branch heading east
The proposed 550 mile methane transmission line begins in Harrison Cty,
Dominion has held Open Houses in every county but Randolph & there are
over one hundred land owners affected. I was told we could have gone to Durbin
in Pocahontas Cty in Sept or wait until sometime in January or February of 2015.
Doyle Land Co. employees have been contacting local residents since June to
purchase 200'+ easement for Right of Way’s, threatening eminent domain See:
& trespassing. See: NO TRESPASSING - WV CODE
Here an acre is 200'+ feet wide then however long. One is not paid for each acre
the pipeline goes through. Also, the land owner pays income taxes on the easement sale &forever pays property taxes on land one is not allowed to use. The rate could become industrial tax rate at any time.
The methane will not be used until it reaches end destinations in coastal VA and NC. Not one community or industry will have access along the 550 miles.
In KENTUCKY - No Eminent Domain a law was passed stating that since eminent
use or benefit locally from the proposed Bluegrass Pipeline. Legislation supports
that gas companies could not condemn by eminent domain the Kentucky
countryside private land.
Concerns of Mill Creek and Huttonsville residents include:
- their family land being taken by eminent domain and ruining it for future
generations
- blasting and drilling could ruin our water - Any fire or leak would kill us
- methane is odorless, underground rock slide could damage the pipeline
& we wouldn’t know
- heavy huge truck traffic through our area for years since Rt 250 is the major road
on route
- diesel fumes 24/7, elderly population, asthma & two schools without air
conditioning
- Dominion said jobs are mostly out of state licensed certified Union workers
- permanent destruction & health dangers to our town
- this route goes through native trout streams and by caves with endangered
species
- response time from Clarksburg with hazmat equipment if there was a fire
or leak
- hunting, fishing and wildlife being hurt or destroyed
